CBRE has named Simon Rooney as executive managing director, retail investments in Australia after 25 years at JLL, where he was ranked as one of the firm’s top three brokers globally. Over the past decade, Rooney has worked on major transaction such as Brisbane’s Indooroopilly shopping centre and the Vicinity Centres portfolio.

JLL has promoted Ken Tang to head of Kowloon Markets in Hong Kong after joining the firm in 2010. Tang, who has 18 years of experience in commercial real estate, was previously a senior director for the firm’s Kowloon business and markets team.

Boston Properties CEO Owen D. Thomas has been elected to global chairman of Urban Land Institute (ULI), replacing outgoing chairman Thomas W. Toomey. Thomas, who is a ULI governing trustee and Foundation governor, will serve a two-year term in the role.

Frasers Property Singapore announced Chew Tuan Chiong, CEO of Frasers Centrepoint Asset Management, retired this week after nearly a decade with the company. FCAM is the manager of Frasers Centrepoint Trust.

Georgina Lynch has been appointed as an independent non-executive director of Investec Property in Australia. Lynch brings 25 years of experience in the financial services and property industry, with roles at AMP Capital Investors, Galileo Funds Management and Stockland.

CBRE Global Investors has appointed Elisabeth Troni as lead global portfolio strategist as part of the firm’s global real assets solutions initiative. Troni, who was previously the head of EMEA research and insight for Cushman & Wakefield, will work with investors on portfolio design and investment solutions recommendations across all asset classes and geographies.

Gilbert + Tobin has recruited Peter Doyle and Elias Stephen as partners to the firm’s banking and infrastructure group and real estate and projects group, respectively. Doyle joins G+T after a 38-year career at King & Wood Mallesons, while Stephen comes to the new role from Minter Ellison.
